The simple building structure of the Ex Post provides a clear division of the floors into 2 external office wings with an internal lounge area and a centrally located staircase.
At the request of the client, the new building was designed as a passive house. By using a highly insulated plaster facade and equally highly insulated window glazing, a conventional heating system can be avoided. The residual heat is provided by a comfort ventilation system, so that the energy consumption of the building does not exceed 15 kWh/m², which is about one tenth of the consumption of a conventional climate house.
Dealing with the required nearly 40 cm thick composite thermal insulation system resulted in an intensive examination of the design of the window reveals during the course of the project phases.
In the basement floors, the incidence of light was increased by chamfering the upper window reveal, while in the upper floors, the shading of the glazing was increased by closing the window reveals, thus reducing the heat entering the building in summer. With this concept, the view of the users are improved, who have a direct view of the city and the landscape.

La semplice struttura dell'edificio dell'Ex Post prevede una chiara divisione dei piani in due ali di uffici esterni con un'area lounge interna e una scala centrale.
Su richiesta del cliente, il nuovo edificio è stato progettato come casa passiva. Grazie all'utilizzo di una facciata in gesso altamente isolata e di vetri delle finestre altrettanto isolati, è possibile evitare un sistema di riscaldamento convenzionale. Il calore residuo è fornito da un sistema di ventilazione comfort, in modo che il consumo energetico dell'edificio non superi i 15 kWh/m², ovvero circa un decimo del consumo di una casa climatica convenzionale.
La necessità di un sistema di isolamento termico composito di quasi 40 cm di spessore ha comportato un esame intensivo del design delle finestre a vista durante le fasi del progetto.
Nei piani interrati, l'incidenza della luce è stata aumentata smussando la finestratura superiore, mentre nei piani superiori l'ombreggiatura delle vetrate è stata aumentata chiudendo le finestrature, riducendo così il calore che entra nell'edificio in estate. Con questo concetto si migliora la vista degli utenti, che hanno una visione diretta della città e del paesaggio.
